1. Backyard - Night
In this scene, we used two 1K open faces and a Joker 800. Joker was shooting up into a 4x4 bounce board - adding a little bit of fill on the grass and foreground elements.
The main lighting was provided by the 1K open face rigged up directly above the practical in the frame. we added a flag to cut the light off the wall on frame-left and added 250 diffusion on the open face.
The second open face was just filling up the bedroom behind the subject.
Both 1Ks were on dimmers.
For the close up shot (See below), we added a bounce board and bounced the main 1K back onto the subject's face. And the light in his eyes came from the Joker bounce, very far away.
When creating eye-lights, the distance is key. Get the unit as far as the location allows you, so the light doesn't affect the actor's face (inverse-square law). And use the biggest size source to make it more apparent in the eye. On the still below the 4x4 bounce was about 25' away from the subject's face.
2. Living Room / Kitchen - Day
To extend the daylight further into the room, we positioned 2 Kinos on each side of the camera, shooting at a 45º into the ceiling. And the light in the kitchen was just a single Joker 800 shooting into a 4x4 bounce board. See the lighting plan below.
3. Living room - Night
For the TV light, we use a 2'x4 Kino with 250 diffusion and the Kino eggcate taped on the doors. For the lights outside of the window we used two 1k Open faces with Roscosun 85 ND.3 gel. And for the kicker on the actress on the left we used a 200w fresnel with 250 diffusion.
